Artist Anouk Kruithof will present her new body of work „Ego, Eco, Crescendo“ at this year’s Organ Vida Festival, in French Pavilion.
In her new body of work „Ego, Eco, Crescendo“ Anouk Kruithof examines human-nature relationship as a relation entailing contamination, displacement, mutual alternation and finally normalization. Images of environmental disasters, found or bought online, are printed on rubber latex and plastic in order to unveil underlying smooth and sleek nonhuman shape. Anthropogenic images of natural catastrophes are appropriated, dissolved and transformed into objects. Ephemeral and seductive flow of images materializes as a soft protective cover for dismembered synthetic bodies. Mutated anthropomorphic forms inhabit fragments of natural structures and construct hybrids that incorporate prostheses, walking sticks, crutches, bandage, gel, oxygen and anesthesia masks as well as unfamiliar artificial rocky chunks. The untouched natural ideal is being severely tampered with so as to reveal new vision of human – nature bond.
